Infinite, a group representing the second generation of K-pop, is back in full form after 2 years on its 13th anniversary.
At a press conference to commemorate the release of their seventh mini album ‘Begin (31EGIN)’ held at The Riverside Hotel in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 13st, Infinite Woohyun said, “It’s a time I’ve been looking forward to. I love this group so much, and I have a lot of pride and confidence as a member. I’ve worked hard, so I hope you pay a lot of attention to it.”
This album is the first album to be released in its entirety in five years since their third studio album ‘TOP SEED’ in 2018, and it marks their ‘Begin’ as they celebrate their 3th anniversary of their debut. The title track, “New Emotions”, is a song that catches the ear with an intriguing and addictive instinct from the intro, while at the same time standing out for its unique progression and production.
Kim Sung-kyu said, “We have been active for 13 years, but this album is the first album where we decided everything. It wasn’t easy. Nearly 100 demo songs were received, and the songs were decided after voting. It was fun because it was an album that we put a lot of thought into, and it wasn’t easy, so I’m looking forward to releasing the album even more.”
Speaking about the album, he said, “The ‘B’ in ‘Begin’ was expressed as ’13’ in commemoration of the 13th anniversary. It’s our comeback after a long time, and it’s an album that marks the beginning of our company, so we decided to call it ‘Begin’. This is an album where we have been thinking a lot about how to bring trendiness while keeping our colors well. We put a lot of effort into the whole album.”
Nam Woo-hyun said, “The title track ‘New Emotions’ literally feels new. If you listen to this song, you will feel that Infinite is very new. So did I.” Lee Sung-jong continued, “It is characterized by a catchy melody. Each vocal is a different color, and the combination of those voices is really fascinating.”
Kim Sung-kyu said, “The title track is not a high-pitched song that comes to mind when you think of Infinite, which we have shown you so far. I sent them about 10 songs. I was going to choose the title track from among them, but in my case, out of those 10 songs, I was singing along to “New Motions.” It’s such a catchy song.”
Infinite went into individual activities after the end of their exclusive contract with their former agency, Woolim Entertainment. In addition, they established their own ‘Infinite Company’ for complete activities and publicized complete activities.
In response, Nam Woo Hyun said, “I love the group Infinite so much. It’s a very affectionate group, so I’m so happy to be able to work with the members again like this.” Elle continued, “I’m so happy to be at Infinite. I would also like to thank the representatives of each company for allowing us to work together on Infinite.”
In particular, Kim Sung-kyu said, “Me and Dong-woo talked about the establishment of the company first. So, I went to the CEO of Woolim Entertainment, the former agency that owns the trademark for “Infinite”, Lee Joong-yeop. I told the CEO about our goals, and he was very willing to give me the trademark as a birthday present. I was so grateful.”
Recently, Infinite completed the pre-recording of its music broadcast. As it has been a long time since they have faced their fans in full form, Lee Sung-yeol and Nam Woo-hyun have shown tears.
To this, Nam Woo-hyun said, “Me and Sung-yeol showed tears. I think the fans are tears for us. I’ve been waiting so long for this time, and I’m so grateful for that moment. When I look at my fans, it’s like my youth. I feel like I’m reliving my childhood youth now. That’s why I feel like I’m in tears when I face my fans,” he said, revealing his love for Inspirit (fandom).
As they are making a complete comeback to commemorate their 13th anniversary, they will hold a full-length solo concert for the first time in seven years on the 19th and 20th of next month. And tickets for this show were sold out as soon as they opened. Lee Sung-yeol said, “We talked about making it a little smaller because we were worried that the fans would forget about us, but Mr. El strongly talked about gymnastics, and now I am very grateful.”
“I thought the number one place where Infinite and the fans should meet was the gymnastics arena. I thought it was a place where there were a lot of relationships between us and our fans and a lot of memories. I didn’t expect so many people to come.”
They debuted in June 2010 and have hits such as “Let’s Be Mine,” “Come Back Again,” “The Chaser,” and “Destiny.” As the members’ military service was completed and they established an agency and acted as a complete body, they predicted active activities in the future.
In response, Jang Dong-woo said, “As you have been waiting for a long time, we have established Infinite Company. It seems natural to be constantly active. Led by the CEO of our agency, Kim Sung-gyu, I think we will be able to visit you often.”
Finally, Jang Dong-woo said, “I really approached this album with a different mindset. I had to do everything from planning the album to the concept and selecting the songs, so the preparation period for the album was more intense and intense than at the beginning of my debut. So it’s also an album that I’m personally really looking forward to, so please give me a lot of attention and love.”
Infinite’s seventh mini album contains a total of six songs, including the title track ‘New Emotions‘, ‘Intro: 13‘, ‘Parallax‘, ‘I Got You‘, and ‘Find Me‘.
